All Progressives Congress Caucus in Bauchi Agrees to Accept State Governor Bala Mohammed into the Party Ahead of 2027 General Elections

Speaking to BBC Hausa Service in an interview, the House of Representatives member for Toro Federal Constituency, Honourable Dabo Isma’il Haruna, explained that the decision was reached after a series of meetings and consultations with party ranks in the state and at the national level.

He stated, “All party ranks have discussed this matter extensively, and we all unanimously accepted the Governor into our party, the APC, in the state.”

He further said, “We had a fruitful discussion with the national chairman of the party and the governor himself, and he told us that he is not coming to APC to snatch away the existing structure, but he would do justice and give a level playing ground to all party members and his own team to work together in the interest of the entire state.”

“Mr President talked to us and sent a representative to Bala in Bauchi. Vice President Kashim Shettima visited him too. Even our Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Tajuddeen Abbas, also talked to Governor Bala on the same issue, and the governor understands all the demands.”

“So, based on all these discussions, we agreed to welcome him to our great party, the APC.” While answering questions, Dabo maintained, “All these caliber of people, as our leaders, discussed with him at their own levels, and we shouldn’t reject our leaders’ decision in this matter. The defection of Bala Mohammed into APC is not a takeover but a merger,” he stressed.

He concluded, “All of us have now formed committees from the APC and the PDP to look into all the gray areas and interests so that we would be united as one towards the 2027 election.”
