Bauchi Government Sets to Improve Girls Education,Trains 30 Teachers

The Bauchi Ministry of Education and state universal basic education board in collaboration with Girls Education Mission International, supported by TY Dan'juma Foundation, commenced the training of selected thirty 30 teachers drowned from the twenty local government areas of the state.

The training is expected to cover three 3 days extensively and equipped the teachers on basic and science technology under the quality education for lifelong learning (QELL), holding at the conference hall of Smart School along Gombe road Bauchi.

Commissioner of education Dr.Jamila Dahiru who declared the training open charged the participants to concentrate and show dedication to learn and teach students, especially the girls child.

Represented by the Ministry's Permanent Secretary Babayo Gamawa added that the state government targeted at training not less than 5,000 teachers across the state, explaining those selected for the train the trainer would later be absorb at the secondary schools level.

The Commissioner added that the aim is to ensure effective and efficient teaching and learning environment created in all schools in the state in line with the  education objectives of governor Bala Mohammed administration.

Dahiru added that the Ministry will continue to partner relevant organizations and agencies in the education sector to improve access and the quality of service delivery in the sector.

State Universal Basic education Chairman SUBEB, Adamu Mohammed Duguri, commended the initiative said it will go a long way in boosting the girls child education and the sector in general.

Mohammed Duguri promised that the Board will ensure positive impacts of the training and will be beneficial to the teachers and the students and the entire schools across the state as well.

In her address, the Executive Director of Girls Education Misson International, Keturah Shammah explained that the training was organised under the Project Title: Quality Education for Lifelong Learning (QELL).

She appreciated the education commissioner for her interest in the project saying that the commitment has been tremendous as she gave the desired attention to ensuring that the training is conducted and successful at the end.

Shammah emphasized that working with the state and relationship with other relevant education stakeholders has been tremendous, saying the training is aimed at providing a support for effective service delivery in the education sector.

She added that, considering Bauchi state ranked the highest number of out-of-school children, in recent reports, says the project will work to see the light of the day.

While commending the state governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for prioritizing education sector saying that it's a clear demonstration of readiness to have a brighter future for girls education across the state.

Selected participants from the 20 LGAs expressed hope and readiness to learn new things in basic science and technology which according to them will assist in effective service delivery and assures that they will do everything possible to contribute their quota in overall development of education in Bauchi state.
