Bauchi Community Testified Series Commitment by RUWASSA, UNICEF Lead to ODF

People of Liman Katagum community in Bauchi state have redefine their commitment for sustainability drive of environmental sanitation and protection after series of training awareness conducted by the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency RUWASSA in collaboration with United Nations Children's Funds (UNICEF) as Bauchi local government area became the 10th open defecation free ODF status
They stated this while speaking to team of health and environmental reporters who visited the area

Maimunatu Umar stated that after their trainings they entered the community day In day out for sensitizing other members of the community, especially housewives and their children, telling them the danger ahead of defecating every where, before there are indiscriminate defecation within our area and lack of hygiene practice, but now giant stride by RUWASSA and UNICEF we are free from outbreak of disease such cholerah, and other contagious pandemic diseases and our community leaders played a key roles in achieving that ODF status

SANI USMAN a carpenter and Washcom member within the community also maintained that, with this development my family members are fully updated as we engaged our people to always wash their toilets, and hands after use at all times, now we are looking healthier than before we sincerely appreciate government efforts in conjunction with RUWASSA cand UNICEF
Bauchi local government is the latest area council attained status of open defecation free through community participatory and efforts from the state government and other donor agencies.

Liman Katagum community head Yakubu Abubakar Ghani said that before the attainment of ODF status in the community, the rural water supply and sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) with support from United Nations Children Fund UNICEF has conducted meetings for water sanitation and hygiene committee on the hazards of open defecation, wth a renew calls to traditional institutions on sustainable effort and robust commitment not to go back to the bad behavior of pulluting their areas with defecating indiscriminately
while community head expressing concern over sustainable effort.
"We have put a strong measure to deals with anyone found wanting defecating openly undermining the efforts already achieved within our community and the entire Bauchi local government area at large"

House wife member of the wash-com Maimunatu Umar and Shehu also narrated how the achievement of ODF status in the community has Improved hygien for women and children, said now they are free from pollution and outbreak of diseases.
While at the agencies level rural water supply and sanitation, as well as Bauchi environmental protection agency shared their commitment drive in collaboration with UNICEF whom played a key roll in achieving the desire objectives

In addition, the committee members appreciate UNICEF in educating women, youth, elderly people and persons with disabilities on the need to patronize using toilets at the markets, places of worship and motor parks whenever they are not in their residence
