I didn't go back to school until I was married @16 years of age with the full support of my courageous husband the present Governor of Bauchi state Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.

She stated this at the just concluded gathering of the northern traditional leaders committee meeting on education, organized by the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project under the Federal Ministry of Education,

while emphasizing that, transformative power of education to  overcoming social and cultural norms that hinder girls’ in accessing learning education in Northern region of the country is her main course at the moment. 

Bauchi First Lady Hajiya Aisha Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has reiterated her unwavering commitment to the empowerment of girls through education and empowerment drive.

The organized event with the Theme:  “Overcoming Social and Cultural Norms on Girls’ Education in the Northeast Zone", Role of Traditional and Religious Leaders,”

   Award Presentation as (AGILE)     Ambassador to Bauchi First Lady 

brought together key stakeholders, including religious and traditional leaders, to discuss actionable strategies for improving girls’ education in the region.

In her keynote address, at the occasion Aisha Bala described education as the cornerstone of empowerment, stating that it equips girls with the tools needed to make informed decisions, advocate for their rights, and contribute significantly to their communities.

Adding that, from her personal experience, Hajiya Aisha revealed that she was married at 16 years of age but remained resolute in pursuing her dreams, which eventually led to the establishment of a private Almuhibbah Open University in the long run and made her what she is today.

She described this milestone as a testament to the transformative power of education and a declaration that every girl, irrespective of her circumstances, deserves a second chance and the environment would nurtures her growth.

She highlighted that, the barriers that girls face in accessing education, including cultural norms, poverty, gender discrimination, and inadequate infrastructure. 

   His Eminent Sultan of Sokoto Comments on her Contribution to Education of Girls 

She urged all stakeholders, governments at all levels, individuals and communities to work collectively in addressing these challenges.

Aisha Bala was crowned and decorated as ambassador of (AGILE) project in northern Nigeria, as part of encouragement to do more by the national coordinator of the project Mrs. Amina Buba Haruna with the support of His eminent the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar III

The occasion was well attended by notable traditional leaders, religious and politicians as well as other key stakeholders in the education sector of the northern region.
