YULITIDE: NUJ Tasks Gov, to Address Deplorable Bauchi, Jos 35Km Highway

The leadership of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Bauchi state chapter frown at deplorable condition of the Bauchi, Jos road highway as activities of the yulitede period manifested from one place to another across the country

The secretary of the union Alhaji Isah Garba Gadau disclosed this in an interview with members of the media on their way to a community close to Jos, says the government should make it as a serious and utmost priority to make the road motorable, looking at the important of the highway not only for people from Bauchi and Jos, but for the entire people of the northeast region and the country in general.

Gadau pointed out that for many years the portion of the road at the 35km WOM village is becoming a sources of concern for many people plying the road every passing day for almost a decade, urging the government to do the needful 

He continue that, for users they should maintain decorum when using the road as  motorist are on the increase now plying the road on daily basis for business and agricultural activities as well as end of the year season festivities.

Adding that, "year in year out we realized that this particular portion of the road at WOM village has became cankerworm as given more headeche to the authorities concern, virtually at all government levels, reports indicates accident do occured here on intervals hence the need to what is expected holistically to arrest the situation permanently for the benefit of all"

   WOM Road Portion Under Rehabilitation   

"Now look at the road we are passing the trailer falled loaded with grains and other consumables, even farmers here can go to markets and go back on time within the village communities around, so commuters would be at lost if the road is not good, yet if the way is clear for motorists, accident will be minimal here, and free access especially on 'ember months' that more people travels across the country and beyond. He emphasized.

Noting that, the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the road cannot be over emphasized as seen works either on going or completion but cannot be sustain for long the road would collapse at the expense of the commuters to navigate and get their way out of the deplorable condition of the road.

Therefore the leadership concluded that  commuters should always observed road safety regulations to avoid being victims as a result of the deplorable condition, they should be patient and pray that government should continue to be executing roads infrustracture that would touch the common man instead of misplaced priorities as such.
