Jos Discos Encourages Community Vigilante, as Police Arreated Six Electric Installation Vandals

During an interview with the management of Jos electricity distribution company at the police headquarters Bauchi the State Operation officer in charge of Bauchi state Dr Abubakar Ibrahim commended the proactiveness of the Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for arresting some of the suspected criminals who specialized in stealing electrical installation cables belongings to JED Company withing Bauchi metropolis and environs.

Describing the act as sabotaging the effort in providing electricity supply to the teaming Bauchi consumers, which according to him is disrupting the business activities, especially for those who depend on electricity to thrive on their daily activities.

Dr. Abubakar further maintained, "part of what we did is to collaborate with the security agencies we are here at the police headquarters part of our engagement is the outcome of what we just have now, and we met with the commander civil defence and we just have issue recently, less than a month,

Adding that, "we have over thirty cases of vandalism, across our network some high some medium dependent on the things they stael, so generally we want the community to report any suspicious movement around electrical installations and also report to our office or nearest police stations, and we also call on communities just as we engage them".

While parading the suspect the command Public Relations Officer Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the arrest of six suspects in connection with stolen electric instalations at the command during the investigation the police has recovered some of exhibit with the suspects says they are mainly youth.

Wakil further explained that, "the suspects include one other member named Aliyu Musa ‘m’, conspired among themselves and vandalised an electric aluminium conductor belonging to Jos Electricity Power Company (JED) at Tambari housing Estate, Bauchi State".

During the investigation, both the suspects freely confessed to the crime committed, and it was further revealed that the suspects had already negotiated with one Al-ameen Ibrahim ‘m’ aged behind the IDC area of Bauchi to purchase the stolen items at his liberty price.   

Exhibits recovered include;
A bunch of electric aluminium conductor 
One (1) hacksaw 
One (1) Jincheng motorcycle 
Investigation is ongoing, after which the suspects will be charged to court for the established offence in collaboration with Jos Electric Distribution Company, Bauchi Branch, for prosecution.

In the same vain, the command Pareded three suspects for commiting rape cases under gender-base violence, the Mohammed Wakil maintained that, "On the 25th January 2025, the operatives attached to Kirfi Divisional Police headquarters, following information, arrested Shehu Isah ‘m’ aged 45yrs of Unguwan Karofi, via Kirfi LGA, Bauchi State, lured a five-year-old girl (name withheld), and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her in his room.

In a related case, on the 16th of January 2025, Detectives attached to Ningi Divisional Police headquarters received a report that on the 15th of January 2025, a ten-year-old (name withheld) ‘f’ reportedly went missing. Upon investigation, it was discovered that on the same date at about 2230hrs, one Shafi’u Sule ‘m’ of Katsinawa Tabulawa village was apprehended with the missing girl by Police operatives in conjunction with members of quasi-security around Tsohuwar Ningi area of Ningi LGA, Bauchi State. 

Investigation into the case revealed that the suspect threatened to cut off the victim's tongue and burn her alive if she dared to shout for help.

During interrogation, the suspect willingly corroborated the victim’s statement; the Commissioner of Police directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bauchi for further investigation, after which the suspect will be profiled and charged to court for the established offence for prosecution accordingly.
