FATAL ACCIDENT: Bauchi CP Warns Drivers on Traffic Rules, as One Dead, Others Injured at Magama Gumau

Bauchi state commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu has warned drivers to observe traffic rules at least 45 meters behind a broken-down vehicle to give approaching drivers ample time to notice and react safely.

This was disclosed in a press release signed by the command's public relations officer CSP Ahmed Wakil, issued to journalists on Sunday.

The statement explained that, a fatal motor vehicle accident occurred on Sunday, 13th April 2025, at about 2:00 AM in Magama Gumau Town, involving two DAF trucks.

One of the trucks, loaded with white sand and carrying four occupants, rammed into another truck that had broken down on the roadway. The collision resulted in a fire that engulfed both vehicles and their contents, leading to the death of one occupant, Usman Magaji (23), while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Police operatives attached to the Magama Gumau Divisional Headquarters, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, responded swiftly. They extinguished the fire and rescued the victims. The injured were rushed to Toro General Hospital, where one of them, identified as Usman Magaji, was certified dead by a medical doctor.

The statement continued, while commiserating with the victims' families, the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, *CP Sani-Omolari Aliyu, psc(+), mni,* cautioned drivers to adhere strictly to traffic rules. He emphasised the importance of placing a warning triangle at least 45 meters behind a broken-down vehicle to give approaching drivers ample time to notice and react safely.

He also directed the Command’s Central Motor Traffic Department (MTD) to conduct a discreet investigation into the incident.
