The saying goes that " A Round Peg in a Round Hole breeds positive results as we the people of Bauchi State saw in our Governor Senator Bala Mohammed Kauran Daulan Usmaniyyah through his laudable and progressive people and city development oriented projects.
These projects were achieved because a round peg was placed in a round hole. Hence, the need for us, the Bauchi State people to again select another round peg that can be placed in a round hole.
WHO SHOULD THIS PERCEIVED ANOTHER ROUND PEG IN A ROUND HOLE COULD BE.
In my search for a suitable replacement of this round peg, my searchlight sighted a well brought up gem, a gentle man, a simple and easy going man, generous man, dedicated man, responsible man, and a man that has respect for elders as well as his peers and younger ones.
This man is none than Honourable Dr. Yakubu Adamu Commissioner of Finance Bauchi State government, many may wonder why I chose this young vibrant and simple rare gem?
My reason is not far fetch as we that grew up in Bauchi particularly those leaving in Karofin Madaki, Anguwan Allura, Kofar Dumi, Bakaro to Kofar Fada axis could attest to all the above encomiums or rather all the adjectives I used in describing Dr. Adamu. He started a simple and committed life as a boy through his primary school, secondary school to University at ATBU Bauchi.
While schooling,I could remember he had a shop which we popularly called Provisions store which served as a complementary to what his parents do give him and that shop made him popular then because he was so committed to ensuring that it kept on increasing, this effort of his then, was seen by the elders far then as Yakubu is justifying what he is reading or he was born to manage finances very well because despite the meagre capital he was able to scale through all the negativities attached to provision shops. Alas!
Today we have a robost Bank and finance manager In that, Dr. Adamu before his appointment as Commissioner of Finance Bauchi State, he served as a bank manager who had gained extensive experience in financial management, Risk assessment and Strategic planning. Dr. Adamu's academic background in economics and finance, have truly equipped him with a deep understanding of economic theories and their practical applications.
The combination of professional experience and academic knowledge have made him an exceptional leader per excellence in managing Bauchi State 's finances. This claim could be justify by some of his notable achievements made within a short period such as:
(a) Enhancing Revenue Generation. Dr. Adamu has spearheaded efforts to improve Tax collection, broaden the tax base and eliminate revenue leakages which resulted in a significant increase in the State's internally generated revenue ( IGR).
( b) Implementing Fiscal Discipline. He has enforced strict adherence to budgetary guidelines ensuring accountability and effective utilization of public funds.
( c) Modernizing Financial Management System. Dr. Adamu has overseen the implementation of cutting - edge financial technologies, streamlining processes and improving financial reporting.
( d) Capacity Building He has introduced training programs for finance Ministry Staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in financial management, budgeting and economic planning.
These and more were the achievements Dr. Yakubu Adamu had/has achieved which earned him an Award in 2024 called Police Award of Excellence. This award was awarded to him for his selfless service to humanity and significant role in supporting initiatives that align with the Police force's mandate for societal progress.
True to the police realization of Dr. Adamu's reach out to his society as he has not only touched and changed his family members but also his friends, classmates , younger ones that had lived with him then to community services such as building and completing mosques, Islamiyyah school's and also helping the sick persons both in hospitals and those at homes.
This rare gem, is one in a million. Though, he is like a younger brother to me because his elder brother is a friend Nura but I haven't made any of his friend or those he grew up with that has complained to me of Dr. Adamu treating him badly because of his position rather they all say good of him and even some told me the surprised cash he do direct his younger brother to extend to them.
The people of Bauchi State, it is on the above rare qualities of this silent toucher and changer of so many people that I suggest we select him as he will be the another round peg that we would placed in a round hole as we saw in our present Governor Bala Mohammed Kauran Daulan Usmaniyyah through his numerous laudable works that cut across all the 20 local governments of the State.
