A 35-year-old man, Musa Adamu, has been arrested by the Gombe State Police Command for allegedly attacking his girlfriend with a hammer, attempting to strangle her, and robbing her of ₦100,000 in Gombe metropolis.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the incident occurred in the early hours of June 9, 2026, when the suspect allegedly scaled the fence of the victim’s residence in Pantami area and forcefully gained access to her room.
Police said the suspect attacked the woman, a businesswoman whose identity was withheld, with an iron hammer and attempted to strangle her using a USB cable before making away with ₦100,000.
The victim reportedly raised an alarm, forcing the suspect to flee the scene. She sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital by police operatives, where she received treatment and was later discharged.
A swift police investigation led to the arrest of the suspect later the same morning. Officers also recovered an iron hammer suspected to have been used in the attack, as well as a USB cable allegedly used in the attempted strangulation.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, who was said to be the victim’s boyfriend, had earlier requested money from her, but she declined.
The suspect remains in police custody while investigations continue.
He is expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
