The newly appointed Chairman of the Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo, Dr. Yusuf Muhammad, has reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to repositioning the Polytechnic for greater achievements.
Dr. Yusuf stated this during an interaction with the Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo community on campus, including the management, staff, and students.
He described the Kaltungo Polytechnic as indispensable to Nigeria’s industrial and technological aspirations, and acknowledged the contributions of polytechnics to middle-level manpower development in the country, which he said remains critical to national growth.
In a statement distributed to reporters by the Public Relations Officer of the Polytechnic, Umar D. Yusuf, the Chairman stressed the need for sustained investment in the polytechnic system. He said, “The country’s quest for technological advancement cannot be achieved without well-funded and properly equipped technical institutions.”
“We are always partners in progress. Everything we do is to improve and make things work better,” he added.
Dr. Yusuf thanked the staff and students for the warm reception accorded to him.
He said he had listened to the concerns, suggestions, and expectations of both staff unions and the student body, and described the interaction as timely. He added that it would help to strengthen dialogue, promote transparency, and foster unity of purpose within the Polytechnic community.
The Chairman commended the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Ibrahim Babale Gashua, and his management team for maintaining a cordial working relationship with the unions, and for creating an enabling environment for teaching, learning, and service delivery, as well as for infrastructural development and academic excellence.
He also applauded the students for their discipline and commitment to academic excellence.
Dr. Yusuf reassured the Polytechnic community of the Council’s continued support for projects and policies that will enhance infrastructure, staff welfare, and the student experience on campus.
Speaking at the occasion, representatives of staff and students expressed appreciation for Dr. Yusuf’s leadership, support, and contributions toward improving infrastructure, staff welfare, and academic standards at the institution.
They said the visit of the Chairman had boosted their morale and zeal to do more, and commended the Governing Council for its commitment to the growth and development of the institution.
In a related development, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Yusuf Muhammad, inspected completed and ongoing projects at both the permanent and take-off sites of the institution.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress of work being undertaken and commended the Polytechnic management for its commitment to ensuring infrastructural development.
Dr. Yusuf urged contractors to adhere strictly to specifications and timelines, and assured the Polytechnic community of the Governing Council’s continued support.
He was conducted round the project sites by the Rector, Dr. Ibrahim Babale Gashua; the Deputy Rector, Miss Eldah Ephraim Buba; the Director of Works and Physical Planning; and other principal officers of the institution.
Dr. Yusuf Muhammad was recently appointed Chairman of the Governing Council by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
