A coalition groups within the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Bauchi State has announced plans to mobilize 10,000 volunteers ahead of the 2027 governorship election to support Senator Halliru Dauda Jika.
The coalition, operating under the aegis of Concerned People of Bauchi and other ADC support groups, disclosed this at a press conference in Bauchi on Thursday,
Addressing journalists, the leader of the coalition, Hon. Ahmed Yero, said the move became necessary following the lifting of the ban on campaigns for the 2027 general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
He said INEC, in line with electoral regulations, lifted the ban on general campaigns effective September 9, 2026.
“It has become necessary for members of this noble coalition and indeed all indigenes of Bauchi State to rise, participate and exercise their civic rights by joining us to make Bauchi great,” Yero said.
Yero described Senator Halliru Dauda Jika as the most popular among the governorship candidates in the state and urged residents to support his ambition to rescue the state.
“We find it necessary to reiterate to the good people of Bauchi State that they should give him their support in his quest to rescue the state and meet its long-standing need for good governance and purposeful leadership,” he noted
He disclosed that Senator Jika is currently holding rigorous consultations and engagements with elders, women and youths across the state, adding that he will flag off his campaign activities in the coming weeks.
“We are mobilising about 10,000 volunteers to ensure the election of Halliru Jika as Governor of our State,” he stated.
The coalition solicited the support of the media to amplify its message during the electioneering period.
It also called on the people of Bauchi State to shun vote-buying and cast their votes based on conviction, not material gain.
“We call on the entire people of Bauchi State to shun vote buying and cast their votes for him without considering any material gain from those who treat vote buying as business as usual,” Yero said.
He said Senator Jika has assured the people of the state of his commitment to restoring the good image of Bauchi, particularly in the areas of security, education, health, business and general welfare, including persons with special needs, youths, women and widows.
