Chief David Kente, a philanthropist, politician and international business mogul, announced the endowment. Beneficiaries are students of Mass Communication at Federal University Wukari and Taraba State University Jalingo. The declaration was made at the burial of late Chief Ben Adaji, attended by Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, represented by Mr. Gabriel Yough, Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, NUJ Taraba.
Chief Kente provided a University Endowment Fund in the Faculties of Mass Communication of both universities in honour of late Ben Adaji. He pledged that funds would be provided yearly to support Mass Communication students and promised to support Adaji’s family to ease their burden.
The declaration was made on Thursday at the burial ceremony of the late Adaji.
The burial and declaration took place in Imani, Olomaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Kente said the endowment fund was part of immortalizing the late Adaji, who died as a practicing journalist after 30 years in the profession. Governor Kefas, through his representative, described Adaji as “a pillar of media practice in Taraba” and prayed for God to give the family and associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
