Bauchi Earmarks ₦500m for Child Nutrition Fund
as PHC Board Reaffirms Commitment

The Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board (BSPHCB) has disclosed that the state government has earmarked ₦500 million for the Child Nutrition Fund (CNF) in the 2026 budget as part of efforts to strengthen nutrition interventions across the state.
Executive Chairman of the Board, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed made the disclosure while receiving members of the Civil Society-Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN), Bauchi Chapter, during the coalition’s quarterly advocacy and budget performance tracking visit under the UNICEF-supported Partnerships on Increasing Investment in Nutrition Project.
He, however, noted that although the allocation had been made, the funds were yet to be released.
The Chairman commended CS-SUNN for its sustained advocacy and pledged the Board’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the coalition to improve nutrition outcomes for women and children.
Earlier, the Bauchi State Coordinator of CS-SUNN lauded the Board’s leadership for its commitment to tackling malnutrition and praised the state for receiving national recognition during the recent UNICEF Strategic Policy Dialogue in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
According to her, Bauchi was acknowledged for demonstrating commitment to nutrition through the provision of state and local government counterpart funding for the Child Nutrition Fund.
She urged the government to sustain budgetary allocations and ensure timely release of funds for the CNF and other nutrition interventions, stressing that the initiative should not be treated as a one-off programme.
The coordinator also informed the Board of the emergence of a new leadership for CS-SUNN in the state and reaffirmed the coalition’s readiness to continue supporting government efforts to improve the nutritional status of women and children.
