Thousands of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, supporters have defected to the People Redemption Party PRP in Bauchi State, the move said to have boosted the grassroots political base of Senator Shehu Buba Umar.in the state.
Hon. Umar Farouk Adam Support Group leader of the supporters stated this during an interview with journalists shortly after the event held in Bauchi over the weekend
He said, the defectors, made their decision to leave the PDP was due to disappointment over unfulfilled campaign promises, inadequate empowerment, and insufficient attention to the welfare of youths and communities.
They declared their support for Senator Shehu Buba, who is the Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism, describing him as a politician with strong grassroots connections and a commitment to constituency development.
The organisers said they believed the senator could provide effective representation and help improve the socio-economic well-being of the people across the state.
Speaking at the event, the group’s leaders also advised youths to diversify their sources of income by acquiring vocational skills, pursuing education, and engaging in legitimate businesses.
He stressed that while young people should participate actively in politics, they should not depend entirely on political patronage for economic survival.
The reported movement into the PRP marks another shift in Bauchi’s evolving political landscape and could have implications for future electoral contests throughout the state.
