The People’s Redemption Party, PRP, governorship candidate in Bauchi State, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, has assured residents of adequate welfare and job opportunities for youth, women, and retired pensioners if elected in the 2027 general elections.
Senator Buba made the pledge on Sunday during a mega rally at the Games Village in Bauchi, where he received prominent defectors from other political parties into the PRP.
The defectors were led by renowned politician Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi. Senator Buba described their move as a major boost and expressed appreciation for the massive support he continues to receive from the electorate in the state.
He promised to justify the confidence reposed in him as campaign activities, now activated by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, commence.
The Senator challenged his opponents in other parties to tell the people what they can offer instead of resorting to blackmail.
He said preparations are ongoing for proper campaigns across all 20 Local Government Areas of the state.
Senator Buba urged his supporters to remain calm, noting that the PRP is the party to reckon with and is poised to change the way people have been governed in the last 7 years.
“A PRP government will be different from what we have had if elected,” he said.
In his remarks, Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi said Senator Buba’s popularity cannot be matched by candidates of other political parties. He urged Bauchi residents to vote wisely for Shehu Buba, expressing confidence that victory is assured at the polls.
Barau Ningi who led the defectors also lamented what he called campaign calumny from political opponents instead of issue-based engagement. He said injustice within the APC was what triggered his defection to the PRP, alongside other political stakeholders from various parties.
The party also unveiled its three senatorial candidates:
Aliyu Shehu Barden Habas Bauchi South Senatorial District
Salisu Zakaria Bauchi Central Senatorial District
Senator Isma’il Damuwa Kachalla Bauchi North Senatorial District, seeking a second term
The highlight of the occasion was the formal presentation of the defectors to party supporters at the mega rally.
