Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled its House of Representatives candidate for Bauchi Local Government Constituency.
The party’s national leadership unveiled the candidate after a 1,000-man march and rally in support of the Peter Obi/Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential bid held in Bauchi on Saturday.
The event witnessed a large turnout of party stakeholders and supporters across the Bauchi metropolis.
The supporters, led by the House of Representatives candidate, Sodangi Adam Chindo, marched round the state capital to create awareness and mobilise voters for the Obi/Kwankwaso ticket under the NDC platform.
The march kicked off from the Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall along Wunti Market, moved through the Emir’s Palace and other major streets in the state capital, and terminated at Rafin Zurfi, close to the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, along Dass/Tafawa Balewa Road.
At Rafin Zurfi, the House of Representatives candidate was presented to supporters by the NDC National Women Leader for the North-East Zone, Hon. Adamu Ruth Andrew.
Addressing the gathering, Andrew said the Peter Obi/Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso ticket will reset the country for the betterment of all Nigerians if elected president and vice president.
“Today we have massive mobilisation and registration of support groups. We believe and declare that NDC believes in good governance and we will win the 2027 general elections,” she said.
“Under NDC, we demand equal opportunity. We are ready for changing that negativity. Women and youth are no longer just voters, we are organisers, mobilisers, party agents and leaders.”
“We are officially unveiling Obi/Kwankwaso as our presidential candidates and our winning team for the 2027 elections.”
In his remarks, the Bauchi House of Representatives candidate, Sodangi Adam Chindo, appreciated supporters for the massive turnout and said the NDC will change the narrative at the national level with Obi/Kwankwaso.
Chindo said if elected, he would prioritise effective oversight functions, collaborate with relevant stakeholders to improve the health sector, particularly in the areas of maternal mortality and child nutrition, and work to reduce the number of out-of-school children in Northern Nigeria and Bauchi in particular.
Also speaking, the Sarkin Yakin Obi, Michael Mico, who supported the rally, thanked participants and the national leadership of the NDC for believing in the Peter Obi/Kwankwaso movement in Bauchi, and promised to mobilise more voters ahead of the 2027 polls.
