Comrade Khalid Hassan Arewa has emerged as the youngest vice presidential candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, for the 2027 general elections.
The party’s presidential candidate, Chief Barr. Dan Nwanyanwu, announced the nomination in consultation with the party leadership.
The development, according to the party, is part of ZLP’s commitment to youth inclusiveness in governance and signals its readiness to present a vibrant and impactful national leadership ahead of May 29, 2027.
In a statement, the party described Arewa, who is the National Publicity Secretary of ZLP, as “the youngest vice presidential candidate in Nigeria as part of youth inclusiveness in governance.”
The ZLP vice presidential candidate is a public administrator, entrepreneur, community development expert, and youth leader from Bauchi State.
As a youth leader in Bauchi State, he was one of the youngest candidates to contest for the governorship seat in the 2023 general elections under the ZLP. He was described as a silent achiever with a proven record in developmental politics, grassroots mobilization, and community development.
Khalid Arewa is committed to youth empowerment, education, good governance, and sustainable development across Northern Nigeria. His key competencies include governance and politics, campaign strategy, public administration, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
As a community development expert, he is engaged in project management, donor liaison, grassroots mobilization, and ASRH and youth programmes.
Part of his political experience includes championing a people-centered manifesto focused on youth employment, education, healthcare, and infrastructure during the 2023 governorship race.
He also mobilized youths and stakeholders across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State for issue-based politics, and has been active in party building and developmental politics at ward, LGA, and state levels.
Khalid Arewa has mentored young leaders and aspiring politicians across Bauchi State, advocating youth inclusion, transparency, and accountable governance.
