Three months on, Bauchi APC remains silent as thieves steal a journalist’s car while he covered the party’s congress.
It has been over three months since thieves stole a 2004 Pontiac Vibe belonging to Khalid Idris Doya, a correspondent with Leadership Newspapers in Bauchi, while he was covering activities of the All Progressives Congress, APC. The party has yet to sympathise with or compensate him.
According to Mr. Doya, he was invited to cover the party’s congress held at its state secretariat along Maiduguri Road on March 3, 2026. He parked the vehicle within the vicinity of the office.
“I was officially invited to cover the proceedings of the APC state congress as part of media coverage of the event. I attended the congress venue at the Next Level APC Secretariat, Bauchi, with my vehicle, a Pontiac Vibe, Chassis Number: 5Y2SL62833Z408918, Plate Number: BAU-100HB.
“The vehicle was parked within the vicinity of the venue between 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. while the congress was ongoing. Regrettably, due to the crowd that gathered at the congress venue, unknown individuals stole the vehicle,” he narrated.
The journalist formally reported the incident at the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, ‘A’ Division, Central Market.
“Despite these efforts and reports made to the relevant security authorities, there has so far been no information regarding the whereabouts of the vehicle,” he said.
Having informed the APC leadership of the loss, both verbally and in writing, the party has yet to sympathise with or compensate the journalist.
