Hon. Sulaiman Bashir Jalam, the House of Representatives candidate for Misau/Dambam Federal Constituency under the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has assured constituents of an inclusive government for low- and middle-income earners. He also pledged to make insecurity a thing of the past.
Speaking shortly after a rousing welcome by party officials and residents of Misau and environs at Misau Township Stadium, Jalam said the visit was part of his familiarization tour ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Bashir Jalam arrived during a friendly football match between Misau United and Olympiacos FC. The organisers honoured him as a special guest. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
After the match, the candidate promised to address unemployment through sports development across his constituency if elected as a House of Representatives member in 2027.
He also acknowledged the contributions of youths and women in every election cycle. He said they have a key role in his vision to be one of the lawmakers from the zone who will change the narrative on youth restivness through purposeful representation at the national level. He added that he will encourage youth-driven economic growth through education and skills empowerment as part of efforts to address insecurity.
“We started this journey with prayers to deliver on our promises when the actual campaigns begin,” he said.
“I was confronted with the challenges facing local sports administration and Misau Township Stadium here in Misau. I promised to address the matter if elected, by God’s grace.
“I sincerely thank you for the support and encouragement at this gathering. I see it as clear testimony that the people of Misau need a change of representation in the Green Chamber in 2027. My agenda is youth because I am a youth too, and you are always at the forefront.”
“I also thank the party executives from state level down to ward level. This is a memorable moment in my life,” he added.
In his remarks, the NDC State Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigari, called on the people of Misau to vote for the right party with quality candidates like Bashir Jalam. He said the major event ahead will unite both constituencies as one family, and expressed confidence that, by God’s grace, NDC will win all elective positions in the zone.
Other stakeholders commended the candidate for his appearance, saying it would boost the party’s chances of winning voters’ acceptance across the area.
State executives of the party, led by the state chairman, and local government executives also attended the occasion. They promised to work together and mobilise more support for electorates to choose NDC in the forthcoming general elections
