The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the national leadership of the party to adequately compensate Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti for remaining loyal and committee’d to the APC despite losing the party’s gubernatorial ticket ahead of the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election.
The appeal was made during a courtesy visit by the Kirfi Local Government Executive Committee of the APC to the Kirfi Local Government Coordinator of the Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO).
Speaking during the visit, the APC Chairman in Kirfi Local Government, Alhaji Shayibu Habibu Wanka, who was represented by the party’s Organising Secretary, Alhaji Saidu Maishayi, described Dr. Wunti as a rare politician whose actions have demonstrated that the collective interest of the party and the people outweighs personal ambition.
According to him, Dr. Wunti’s decision to remain steadfast in the APC and continue mobilising support for the party after the governorship primary is a remarkable demonstration of political maturity, discipline, and statesmanship that deserves recognition.
“Dr. Bala Wunti has shown exceptional loyalty to the APC. Rather than allowing personal disappointment to divide the party, he chose unity, peace, and the overall success of the APC. Such uncommon commitment should not go unnoticed.
“We therefore appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the national leadership of our great party to adequately reward and carry Dr. Bala Wunti and his supporters along in the affairs of the APC. His experience, influence, and widespread goodwill are invaluable assets that the party cannot afford to overlook,” he said.
The APC leadership further noted that Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti has consistently invested his resources, time, and energy in strengthening the party and improving the lives of ordinary people through numerous humanitarian and empowerment initiatives.
The party stressed that the support and cooperation of leaders with Dr. Wunti’s pedigree would be critical to the APC’s success in the forthcoming elections, urging the national leadership to provide him with the necessary backing to enable him to continue mobilising support across Bauchi State and beyond.
“The APC needs Dr. Bala Wunti, and he equally deserves the full support of the presidency and party leadership. His popularity, philanthropic disposition, and commitment to grassroots development remain major strengths that will help the APC consolidate its position and secure victory in next year’s elections,” the chairman added.
The party also commended the leadership and members of the Bala Wunti Support Organisation for remaining faithful to the ideals of the APC and for continuing to promote progressive politics despite recent political developments.
Responding on behalf of the organisation, the Kirfi Local Government Coordinator of the Bala Wunti Support Organisation, Alhaji Kaloma, thanked the APC leadership for the visit and reaffirmed Dr. Wunti’s commitment to the party.
He assured the party that Dr. Wunti and the Bala Wunti Support Organisation would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people, particularly programmes focused on empowering women, youths, and the less privileged.
He emphasized that Dr. Bala Wunti’s lifelong commitment to humanitarian service and inclusive development remains unquestionable, adding that the organisation would continue to work with the political and Civic groups in advancing policies and programmes that improve the lives of the people of Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.
