Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on behalf of his family, the Government and people of Bauchi State, has congratulated the newly elected Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, Comrade Rauf Ojo Oyewole, and the newly elected Secretary, Comrade Nasiru Sha’aibu, on their emergence at the Chapel’s election held on the 7th October, 2026.
This is contained in a statement released by the governor’s spokesman Comrade Mukhtar Gidado and issued to journalists on Wednesday.
The Governor also congratulated all other newly elected members of the Correspondents’ Chapel Executive Committee and wished them a peaceful, successful and productive tenure.
Bala described the election as a demonstration of the Chapel’s commitment to democratic principles, professionalism, ethical journalism and unity within the media community.
He commended members of the Chapel and the electoral committee for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the election, stressing the important role of journalists in promoting good governance, accountability, development and peaceful coexistence.
The Governor assured the new leadership of the continued support and respect of the Bauchi State Government for journalists, while expressing his administration’s readiness to strengthen its partnership with the media community in the interest of the development of the state.
He urged the new executives to justify the confidence reposed in them by promoting unity, professional excellence, ethical journalism and the welfare of journalists.
Governor Bala Mohammed wished the new leadership a fruitful and successful tenure and expressed confidence in a stronger and mutually beneficial relationship between the Bauchi State Government and the Correspondents’ Chapel.
