The labour party crises is far from over as the current Bauchi state chairman of the party Honourable Auwalu Tukur and the Secretary Rev. Joshua Sunday removed from office, by the national leadership abruptly.
The state executive of the labour Party described the situation as unfortunate and unlawful decision taken by the national Exco led by Mrs. Nenadi Usman. to remove duly elected state officials without any prior constitutional reasons
This was contained in a press release shortly after summation of the case challenging what they described as injustice and unlawful, which prompt them to file the case at the federal high court sitting in Bauchi on Friday.
The state chairman further reiterate their commitment and determination for justice and fairness to all party members and stakeholders as well.
The Chairman and the secretary maintained that, “we wish to inform the general public, our teeming supporters across Bauchi State, and members of the press that we have today filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Bauchi Division challenging the injustice and unlawful removal of the duly elected State Executive of the Labour Party in Bauchi State”
They further explain, that on the 25 April 2026 Labour Party in Bauchi State held its State Congress in full compliance with the party constitution and INEC guidelines, where we were duly elected by delegates from the 20 Local Government Areas as State Chairman and State Secretary respectively.
“That since our election, we have been piloting the affairs of the party diligently and building the party across all 323 wards in Bauchi State”
“That to our greatest shock and dismay, the National Chairperson, Senator Nenadi Usman, without any due process, without any query, and without any fair hearing, purportedly dissolved and removed the duly elected Bauchi State Executive Committee”
The state officials added, that the said action is illegal, unconstitutional, null and void, and is a clear violation of the Labour Party constitution and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The removed of we have therefore approached the Federal High Court to seek redress and to grant us the following:
A declaration that our removal by Senator Nenadi Usman is unlawful and unconstitutional.
An order reinstating us as the authentic and duly elected Chairman and Secretary of the Labour Party in Bauchi State.
An order of perpetual injunction restraining Senator Nenadi Usman and the National Working Committee from interfering with our tenure.
“We call on all our supporters across Bauchi State to remain calm, law-abiding and steadfast as we seek justice through legal means”. They maintained.
The case was mentioned adjourned by the presiding Judge, Justice Aishatu Auta Ibrahim at the Federal high court Bauchi to the 21 of October 2026 for hearing and the subsequent judgement.
