The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has distributed assorted food items to members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ Bauchi Chapter
in a move aimed at supporting female journalists and alleviating the impact of current economic challenges.
The distribution exercise, held in Bauchi, brought together members of the association who received the food packages as part of the Commission’s humanitarian support initiatives across the North-East region.
The NEDC intervention underscores the commission’s commitment to improving the well-being of citizens and strengthening partnerships with professional groups that contribute to societal development.
The Chairperson Hajiya Rashida Yusuf, lauded the Commission for the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of concern for the welfare of women journalists.
She noted that the support would provide relief to members and their families, while encouraging them to remain committed to the ethical practice of journalism and service to the society.
According to her, women journalists continue to play a crucial role in promoting public awareness, advocating for social development, and amplifying the voices of vulnerable groups.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the NEDC for the timely intervention, saying the items would help ease the burden of rising living costs.
The gesture forms part of the Commission’s broader efforts to provide support to communities and organizations across the region, with the aim of enhancing livelihoods and fostering sustainable development.
