The President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Alhassan Yahaya, has commended Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, for exemplary leadership, saying the renovation and upgrade of the NUJ secretariat is a testament to his vision and stewardship.
Speaking during an inspection of the ongoing project, Yahaya described the renovation as a landmark achievement that demonstrates the state government’s commitment to the welfare of journalists and the development of the media profession.
He noted that the upgraded secretariat would provide a conducive working environment for journalists and enhance the activities of the union in the state.
The NUJ president expressed appreciation to Governor Bala Mohammed for prioritising the project, saying the gesture reflects the administration’s recognition of the vital role of the media in promoting good governance and sustainable development.
Yahaya further assured that members of the union would continue to uphold the ethics of journalism by remaining objective, professional, and committed to informing the public on government policies and programmes.
The renovation and reconstruction project, which involves the complete overhaul and modernisation of the secretariat, is expected to improve service delivery and strengthen the operations of the NUJ in Bauchi State upon completion.
The president was in Bauchi alongside other officials and also attended the wedding Fatiha of two daughters of the North-East Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dahiru Mohammed, held at Gwallaga Juma’at Mosque, Bauchi.
