GOMBE — The District Head of Kalshingi in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Magaji, has pledged his full support to the White Paper Implementation Committee to ensure the successful execution of its mandate.
The traditional ruler gave the assurance while receiving the Chairman of the committee, retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, Sunday Babaji, and other members during a courtesy visit to his palace.
Speaking at the meeting, Alhaji Magaji expressed concern over encroachment on designated grazing routes and the alleged illegal sale of land by unauthorized persons.
He alleged that several plots of land between Kalshingi and Kwadon had been sold to unsuspecting buyers by individuals without legal authority. He urged the committee to investigate the matter thoroughly, ensure justice is served, and put an end to the practice.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the White Paper Implementation Committee, retired AIG Sunday Babaji, reaffirmed the commitment of the Gombe State Government, under Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, to implementing the committee’s recommendations and promoting justice in resolving farmer-herder conflicts across the state.
Babaji called on farmers and herders to embrace peaceful coexistence, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, unity, and mutual understanding.
He also warned those involved in illegal land sales to desist from the act and advised prospective buyers to acquire land only through appropriate legal channels to avoid disputes and financial losses.
Also speaking, the Deputy Chairman of Akko North Local Council Development Area, Jungudo Muhammad Baba, expressed confidence that the committee’s work would help reduce conflicts between farmers and herders in the area.
He assured the committee of the support and cooperation of the Akko Local Government Council and commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration for its sustained peacebuilding efforts and developmental projects across Gombe State.
