The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA has flagg off the distribution of 24,302 food baskets donated by the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia to Vulnerable households in five states of the federation.
The Director-General of the agency, Mrs Zubaida Umar disclosed this in Birnin Kebbi while flagging off the distribution exercise of the Presidential Emergency Food Intervention for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Shanga and food baskets donated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), to vulnerable households across the state.
Mrs. Zubaida who was represented by the Director of Special Duties, Hajiya Fatima Suleiman, said that, kebbi is among the five states that would benefit from the KSrelief donation of 4,399 food baskets under the programme for households that had already been profiled.
She commended the longstanding humanitarian partnership between NEMA and KSrelief, noting that previous interventions by the Saudi-based humanitarian organisation had provided critical assistance to internally displaced persons and other vulnerable groups in Kebbi State.
The DG NEMA, assured stakeholders that the distribution exercise would be conducted transparently and in accordance with established accountability standards through collaboration among NEMA, the Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and trained volunteers.
Speaking at the even, Governor Idris expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s commitment to supporting vulnerable Nigerians through humanitarian interventions.
He also commended the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their continued generosity and support to people affected by hardship and humanitarian challenges.

Governor Idris urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the food items for the benefit of their households and cautioned against selling the relief materials.
